The Young Innovative Entrepreneurs project is a support system for young innovative entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs in the Barents Region, that aims at developing new contacts, business ideas and an entrepreneurial mindset across the borders. It focuses on making the Barents Region more attractive as a place to stay and do business in.
In this publication we describe the background, implementation and outcome of the Young Innovative Entrepreneurs project. As the cross-cutting theme of the whole project has been creative thinking and innovativeness, this publication breathes the same spirit.
Young people want and are willing to work towards a vigorous Barents Region in which young entrepreneurs see more possibilities than obstacles. One way to obtain this vitality can be personal relationships, adequate support tools and cooperation in the region. By sharing the experiences of the project staff and participants, this publication shows that the youth believe in the future of the Barents Region.

Young people of the Barents Region should be considered as a golden reserve of human capital of the northern area. They will shape the future of the region. Supporting youth entrepreneurship should become a priority in regional development.
This study was carried out within the ENPI Kolarctic-funded project Young Innovative Entrepreneurs (YIE). The YIE project intends to give an impulse to the promotion of youth entrepreneurship in the Barents Region. The programme is run by partners from the Northern parts of the four participating countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia.
This study seeks to identify and describe various practices and initiatives of entrepreneurship promotion and support. Special attention is paid to the promotion of youth entrepreneurship, the use of practices and existing structures of support in the development of youth entrepreneurship in the Barents Region.
